Family Drama films have lost its appeal and fame that it increased throughout the years in the Bollywood Industry.
While the industry saw a portion of the Best Family Movies during the 90s and 2000s, the trend is gradually reducing in the industry, on account of the action-packed masala pictures and grown-up comedies.
Despite everything I recollect those occasions when I used to run for such movies with the entire family and we used to have a great time. In setting with the Indian norms, there were many movies delivered in the family drama genre amid that time.

1. Jab We Met (2007)
Jab we met is a movie that actually introduced us to our own crazy side. A person can be crazy as hell and can enjoy their life. The movie stars Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor in leading role. They both showed their fantastic chemistry and for sure can watch this movie a thousand times and still can not get bored of it. The movie is directed by Imtiaz Ali, in which Kareena Kapoor’s character name is geet who is a Punjabi girl and tries to enjoy each and every moment of life. She met the love of her life that is Shahid when she missed a train and accidentally bumps into depressed Shahid Kapoor and made his life happening all over again. This story introduces us to how a relationship starts with being a stranger to becoming a friend and then falling in love.
2. Vivah (2006)
Vivah the most romantic Indian movie by Rajshri films in 2006. Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, the film recounts the tale of two people depicting their trip from engagement to eventually their vivah (wedding). The film star Amrita Rao and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles, whereas Alok Nath, Anupam Kher, Samir Soni, Lata Sabharwal, Seema Biswas, Manoj Joshi, and Amrita Prakash in important roles.
3. Baghban (2003)
Baghban a perfect family movie that actually shows us the condition of our parents. When they grow old and how the relationship between the parents and children turns into responsibility rather than love. It introduces us to the truth that we all get so busy growing young that often forgets that our parents are also growing old. This main leads of this movie are Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, and Salman Khan. The story of the movie revolves around these three characters. Where Amitabh and Hema adopted Salman Khan even after being an adopted child Salman did every possible thing he could to make his parents happy. And on the other side, the real children of Amitabh and Hema in the movie took their parents love and care for granted and eventually separate their parents from each other thinking that it is just matter of fact that they need to accompany with them.
4. Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003)
Kal ho naa ho, the basic yet heart touching emotional movie that made us cry each and every time we watch it. And the song with the same name as of the movie that is Kal ho naa ho, this one particular song has made all of us cry in the ending part of the movie. The story of the movie revolves around three people that is basically a love triangle. Shahrukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta gave a great performance and we loved their acting. Eventually, our favorite star Shahrukh Khan died at the end giving tears in our eyes.
5. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001)
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is a perfect family drama movie. This movie includes each and everything that made us so interested in one such movie. Romance, family, respect and sorrow, this movie is a perfect combo. The movie stars 6 very famous Bollywood stars, that are Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Jaya Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Kajol and Kareena Kapoor. This movie is definitely a must watch to feel each and every emotion.
6. Hum Saath-Saath Hain (1999)
Hum Sath Sath Hain are meant for families to watch it together by Rajshri Productions in 1999. Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, the film from the perspective of the modern world tries to tell the story of Ramayana. The film star Saif Ali Khan, Salman Khan, Mohnish Behl, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, and Karishma Kapoor in the lead role, whereas Reema Lagoo, Alok Nath, Neelam Kothari, and other plays an important role in the movie.
7. Biwi No. 1 (1999)
Biwi No. 1 is Indian Hindi comedy movie for families directed by David Dhawan in 1999. It stars Karishma Kapoor, Salman Khan, Sushmita Sen, Anil Kapoor and Tabu. Saif Ali Khan has a special appearance.
8. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is one of the top favorite movies of youngsters of that time. It is yet again a love triangle and this time the unique point in this love triangle was that we loved all three lovers, Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherjee. Shahrukh and Kajol were best friends in college and Rani Mukherjee took admission in the college in the last year. Shahrukh fell for Rani Mukherjee despite knowing the fact that Kajol already has feelings for him. Later, Shahrukh got married to Rani Mukherjee and Rani gave birth to a baby girl. But Rani Mukherjee unfortunately died and wrote letters to her baby girl telling her to reunite Shahrukh with his best friend Kajol. And their baby girl was successful making the reunion of the two. There was also a special entry of Salman Khan as Kajol’s fiance.

Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge commonly known by its short form DDLJ is a movie that has made all of us fall in love all over again. The chemistry between Shahrukh Khan and Kajol has made all of us stunned and their chemistry was just flawless. This movie includes family relations, a girls life journey, falling in love and her dream of getting freedom. Kajol, a girl who belongs to a conservative family once asked his reel father to go out for a college trip. In that college trip, she met Shahrukh and there the love story begins.
10. Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994)
Hum Aapke Hain Koun is one the most successful movie at Indian Box Office, Produced by Rajshri Productions in 1994. This movie is one of the most watched family movies of all the time. This film is Directed by Sooraj Barjatya. The film star Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan in the lead roles.
